3 Features Facebook could borrow from Google plus

Google Plus Vs Facebook

Ever since Google Plus has been launched, Google Plus Vs Facebook has been a hot topic of discussion. Everyone wants to know which one is better. People have been predicting which of them have the higher chances of surviving longer. There have been many articles about how Google Plus is better than Facebook and why Google plus will never replace Facebook!

Anyways, what happens in the long run remains to be seen. Right now, here I am taking a look at 3 features that Facebook would do well to borrow from Google+

Friends lists i.e. Circles

When Google+ was launched, Circles were the most talked about feature. Even though Google+ is not being used by people as much as its parent company would have liked, we can’t say that Circles wasn’t a great innovation. There were some improvements in Facebook friends’ lists after the launch of Google+, but still the feature is far from perfect. The way we are made to manage our lists, it is close to impossible to keep track of who’s on what list. Surely Facebook cannot simply borrow the Circles concept. It’s time they came up with something new and innovative.

Editing Posts & Comments

Misspelt comments, incorrect grammar, email notifications for posts or comments that no longer exist, how many times have you faced these with Facebook? I’m sure a lot of times. It’s hard to understand for me, why can’t I simply edit my posts? I type something, there is one tiny error I fail to notice while typing. I’m either forced to leave it that way or delete the whole thing and post or comment again. Google+ allows us to edit our posts and comments. We will never be wrong again!

Photo Editor

Facebook is the favourite platform for sharing photos. More photos are being shared on Facebook these days than any other platform. Yet we do not have even some basic editing tools. Now, I’m not asking for something like Google+ which simply integrates Picnik with the photo uploader. But at least some tools like crop, brightness/contrast, color enhancer etc. would do a lot of good. Right now, all we have is rotate. I am tired of bad looking photos on Facebook which could be enhanced with minor adjustments to color, brightness, contrast etc.

I would love to see these features including in Facebook. That is what competition does, isn’t it. It makes the users/consumers more aware. If Google+ does something, that means Facebook can do it too. Then why are we not getting it? Right now, Google+ is pretty new and most people are not using it. But soon it might pose a serious threat to Facebook once people start using it. So Facebook needs to constantly innovate to stay ahead.

What other features would you like to see in Facebook? Leave a comment to let us know.
