Backup and sync your phone with everdroid
We all love to change phones, we would be happiest if we could have all the phones at once. But since that is not possible, most of us try to change it at least once every two years. But all the excitement of getting a new phone is halted for a while when we are faced with the gargantuan task of transferring the contacts and other data from the old phone. More so if the older phone was based on a different platform. Even otherwise, if you have 2 phones, it is hard to keep the contacts in sync all the time.
Everdroid comes to your help. It not only helps you backup your contacts, but also your messages, calendar entries, notes, bookmarks et al. What’s more, it even lets you sync your phone’s calendar with Google calendar. You can also share the phone’s calendar with your friends. And best of all, your phone doesn’t have to be a smartphone. Everdroid supports almost all types of phones, smart or not!
To start synchronising, visit www.everdroid.com and sign up for a free account. Once you login, you will be presented with a setup wizard. You will be asked to select your phone and your cell number. Once you have filled in the necessary details, you will receive the sync settings on your phone. Save it and you are all set to synchronise. You can also setup the phone manually. The procedure for syncing varies from phone to phone, the wizard will help you.
Once you have synced your data, you can access it anytime from the web interface. If you want to add another phone, go to MY DEVICES under SETTINGS AND HELP tab, click on New phone and follow the steps.
That’s it, you are all set to never lose your phone’s data again.
Bonus tip: You can visit https://www.everdroid.com/web/ics to download the iCalendar stream that can be imported into Thunderbird Lightning. (Although it didn’t work for me, I’m assuming it should)
